About Mesh Bulk Heads
One of the more popular features that is seen in many commercial vehicles is the Rovermesh bulk head. The Rover mesh bulk head is fitted behind the driver and passenger seats of the vehicle and serves to provide a barrier between the driver and any passengers and the cargo that the vehicle is carrying. A Rover mesh bulk head also ensures that the contents of the rear of the van cannot be accessed from the front of the vehicle, keeping them secure from the risk of theft.
Most bulkheads are made from a rigid steel frame, which is securely attached to the body of the vehicle, and a mesh interior. It is easy to have a Rover mesh bulk head fitted to a van. They are manufactured to fit every make and model of van and are easy to find and relatively easy to install. They provide protection and, because they are made of a mesh construction, they do not reduce the light in the back of the van. Additionally, because they are normally quite sturdily constructed, a Rover mesh bulk head offers additional protection to the driver and passengers in the event that the van is involved in a collision that results in it rolling over.
Rover trivia
- Rover was part of the government's rearmament programme in the run-up to WWII and even ran two shadow factories to start building what the government needed. One of the shadow factories was in Birmingham, but the larger of the two was in Solihull.
- During the 1960s, Rover was forced to cancel several promising car projects. That's because Rover became a corporate partner with Jaguar, and some of the projects they were working on were too similar! The Rover P8 was just one of the victims of this partnership and a prototype was never built.
- Corporate shenanigans changed the company a lot by the 70s, and Rover was owned by British Leyland.
- The Rover 200 and 400 series, commonly known as the R8 Rovers, are also called Wedges by owners, due to their unique shape.
- MG Motor, the current face of what used to be Rover, launched a supermini called the MG3 in 2013. The car catapulted the company back into the highlight as the brand became the UK's fastest-growing car manufacturer.
