About Control Arm Bushess

A Peugeot control arm bush is made from a tough rubber and installed on the front and rear control arms of vehicles to ensure that they are fitted securely to the suspension system. The control arm of a vehicle is responsible for allowing the smooth movement of tyres in line with a vehicle’s body.

The Peugeot control arm bush is a crucial part of the suspension system and should be maintained like any other part of the vehicle. Should one fail, the control arm will have more give and could potentially fail, meaning that the drive will be very uncomfortable over bumpy surfaces.

Because of the rubberised material of the Peugeot control arm bush it is possible that it could crack and deteriorate, particularly if it comes in to contact with oil or dirt. If one of these Peugeot bushes becomes worn it should be replaced quickly as vehicular damage can escalate.

You may notice that your tyres are not wearing evenly, or wear quickly or the drive has become more awkward and bumpy. If this is the case you should also examine the control arms for signs of damage and wear and replace as necessary.

Peugeot trivia

  • In 1913, one of Peugeot's motorsports team, Jules Goux, not only won the Indianapolis 500 but also broke the World Speed Record. He was the first European to win the Indy 500, and the 7.6-litre car was dubbed the fastest vehicle of the time.
  • It's hard to believe, but the Peugeot company was founded in 1810! Of course, it didn't make cars then. Instead, it built pepper mills, salt mills and, eventually bicycles. It wasn't until 1889 that the first Peugeot car was made (they only made four of them, and they were powered by steam).
  • It was Armand Peugeot who turned the company into car manufacturing. He called the company the Société des Automobiles Peugeot (Peugeot Automotive Society) and was the one who approved the famous lion emblem that is still used today.
  • It's a dubious claim to fame, but the first recorded stolen car was a Peugeot! The car, belonging to Baron de Zuylen, was nicked by his mechanic in 1896, but the thief was caught, and the car returned to its rightful owner.
  • Peugeots have been seen on the big and small screen. Most notable, the Peugeot 403 convertible was the car of everyone's famous scruffy detective Colombo. There was also an episode of Absolutely Fabulous where Edina and Patsy drive through France in a 205.
