About Window Electric Systems

The window electric system driver side is the system that enables the driver to control the electric motors that open and close the all the electric windows that are fitted to the vehicle. This maybe just the front side windows or all four side windows.

This operation is controlled by a series of two way switches which are commonly set in the door panel or on the central console. Behind the card door trim, within the cavity of each door that is equipped with an electric window is a motor and an opening mechanism that is wired via a fuse to the two way switches. From these switches the driver can open and close all the fitted electric windows.

Problems occurring with the window electric system are usually with the failure of the motor but can also be the opening mechanism and a problem with the glass becoming disengaged with the mechanism.

Access to the the motors and the lifting/lowering mechanism requires the removal of the door card trim and disconnection of the switches wiring.

Land Rover trivia

  • According to the film, Judge Dredd (1995), Land Rover will be the last ever car manufacturer in the world. The car company had a heavy presence in the film, and you can still see some film versions of the car driving around the UK.
  • The Range Rover designer hated what he had made. Charles Spencer "Spen" King CBE, was focused solely on designing a large V8 engine, and then just drew a box around it to show where the engine would sit. It annoyed him for the rest of his life, and he insisted that he'd only put 0.1% of development time on the car shape. He also hated that they would be used for anything other than farming, saying, "...to use them in the school run, or even in towns and cities at all, is completely stupid."
  • One of the most unique vehicles ever was the floating SUV designed and built by Land Rover. Unfortunately, the Floating Ninety Defender led many drivers to believe that their own Land Rovers could also float, and many cars were driven into lakes as a result.
  • In 2012, Land Rover hired Posh Spice as their temporary creative director. Victoria Beckham was the key to the design of the Evoque Special edition. It came with a hand-finished matte paint job, mohair floor mats, and a matching four-piece luggage set.
  • Land Rover was the two-decade standout winner of the Camel Trophy, a gruelling off-road challenge that sees vehicles compete in Siberia, the Sahara, Australia, and other hostile terrains.
