About Door Sensor Switchs
The Jaguar door sensor switch is a simple yet clever sensor which detects when the door is opened or closed.
The door sensor switch is usually linked to the car’s alarm and security system, so if the sensor switch detects unauthorised entry, by the car door being opened without the use of a key, the car alarm is activated.
This type of sensor usually works with a magnetically operated switch called a reed switch. The door sensor switch is hidden in the door frame and a magnet is placed on the other side of the door and this is all connected to an electrical circuit. When the car door is opened this moves the switch and the magnet apart, which makes the electrical connectors come together which sets the alarm off. The door sensor switch also activates the internal light/s in the car when the door is opened and the light/s are switched off when the door is shut again.
Faulty door sensor switches can mean the sensor will not detect an intrusion which jeopardises the safety of the vehicle. It can also lead to problems with the car’s central locking system and can cause the internal lights to either not come on when the door is opened or to stay on when the door is closed. These type of sensors will wear out over time. Damage to the wiring or to the sensor itself will mean you’ll need to replace this part. Buying a Jaguar door sensor switch will ensure you’ll get the right part for the make and model of your vehicle.
Jaguar trivia
- PM Margaret Thatcher was determined to keep Jaguar as a British company, and in 1984 she announced that the brand was protected from foreign purchasing. The government retained a 50% share of the company until it became clear that foreign investment was essential as 1990 rolled around.
- Before a Jaguar is painted, they are brushed with an ionized emu feather. That's because these feathers are very good at holding an electrostatic charge, and that means they are great at getting rid of any dust that might ruin the finished Jaguar look.
- To show off just how light the F-Pace SUV was, Jaguar built a loop and the SUV not only tackled it but completed the loop on its first go. The feat earned Jaguar a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.
- Steve McQueen was a huge fan of the Jaguar XKSS and even found himself with two driving bans because of his passion for driving fast. He was one of the few people to ever drive an XKSS because only 16 were ever made! McQueen did eventually sell his car, but regretted it immediately and paid more to get it back. The car is now owned by US TV host Jay Leno.
- The Jaguar XJ has that luxurious leather interior, but did you know that all of that leather comes very specifically from Scottish Angus Bulls? Bulls don't get stretch marks, and they don't get bitten much by mosquitoes either. Belly and neck skin becomes the dash and door finish, while the backbone and the rump are used for the seats.
