About Anti Roll Bars
The Land Rover anti roll bar is a rigid steel bar which functions structurally to prevent the chassis of the car from leaning and rolling too much when taking a turn or rounding a corner.
The Land Rover anti roll bar is positioned below the car body and attaches to the right and left hand wheel suspension with anti roll bar or drop links. Most cars have a front anti-roll bar which links the two front wheels and some cars have an anti roll bar which sits at the back of the car and connects the two rear wheels.
The Land Rover anti roll bar keeps the wheels in alignment when the car turns a corner, reducing the body roll of the whole suspension which improves the overall handling of the vehicle.
The anti roll bar itself doesn't wear but it can break or suffer damage in an accident. Over time the drop links, which link the anti roll bar with the rest of the car's suspension, will wear down, however, which can affect the handling and suspension. If the anti roll bar has been damaged in a collision, or you are fitting an anti roll bar into your car for the first time, it's important to install a part that's compatible with the make and model of your vehicle. Purchasing a Land Rover anti roll bar will ensure you get the ideal part.
Land Rover trivia
- Land Rovers and James Bond go hand in hand. The 4x4 Land Rover has been in more Bond films than there have been Bond actors! In Spectre, the Defender SVX was customised with 37-inch tyres and more power.
- Inspired by the Jeeps that had been used in WWII, the first Land Rover's steering wheel was in the middle of the dashboard. This was partly to counter the need to create left and right-hand drive models for different countries.
- The Queen loves Land Rovers and is reported to have owned as many as 30 different models in her life. It was in a Land Rover Defender that her majesty terrified the then Crown Prince Abdullah with her wild driving skills.
- When the Pope was visiting the UK in 1984, Land Rover designed him a customised Popemobile to use in the country.
- According to the film, Judge Dredd (1995), Land Rover will be the last ever car manufacturer in the world. The car company had a heavy presence in the film, and you can still see some film versions of the car driving around the UK.
