Land Rover Defender Overview

The Land Rover Defender is a 4x4 off-road vehicle which is produced by the British manufacturer: Land Rover. This vehicle was introduced in 1983 but was initially marketed as the Land Rover Ninety and the Land Rover 110. The Defender name was officially used from 1990 – onwards. The latest version of the Defender was released in 2007 and like previous versions before hand, it is an extremely capable off-road vehicle, but it has improved performance over its predecessors. The interior design has been greatly improved, there is plenty of room inside the cabin and it is a reasonably comfortable ride. Although this is a very expensive vehicle to buy, it is well worth considering if you are after a vehicle of this type. Does the above information sound anything like your experience of the Defender?

Land Rover Defender History

The Land Rover Defender was first introduced in 1983, but as mentioned above, it was marketed as the Ninety and 110. It was in 1990 that the Defender name was first used and is still in production today. The reason why the Defender name was introduced in 1990 was because Land Rover had introduced the Discovery in 1989 and they needed a name for the Defender vehicle. In 2007 there were some major changes made to the vehicle to meet emissions and safety standards. Land Rover have announced that production of the Defender will cease in 2015.
