About Gearbox Mounts

The Nissan gearbox mount is an essential part of the vehicle’s gearbox and is used to support the driveshaft in the vehicle. The driveshaft connects with the rear vehicle axle and spins along with the engine to operate the vehicle’s gears. The Nissan gearbox mount helps to stabilise the vehicle’s gearbox and keeps it properly aligned in the vehicle. If the gearbox is incorrectly positioned in the vehicle the driveshaft will not be able to enter the transmission correctly, resulting in an inability to change gears easily. These Nissan gearbox mounts hold the weight of the majority of the gearbox. If a Nissan gearbox mount fails it may cause the gearbox housing to crack and become damaged.

It is recommended that if a Nissan gearbox mount fails it is replaced with its pair. If one mount has failed, it is likely that the other will be taking an unnatural amount of pressure and will most likely be near the end of its life too. With a failed Nissan gearbox mount, you may be able to hear a loud vibration or a clanking noise coming from the vehicle as the gearbox will be able to move considerably.

Nissan trivia

  • Nissan and the French manufacturer Renault have had a long and successful partnership, sharing technologies and manufacturing resources.
  • Talk about a long drive, in 1964, the Nissan Cedric drove all the way from Greece to Japan as part of the Tokyo Olympics!
  • The Nissan GT-R is widely considered to be the fastest street-legal car in Europe, after beating both Ferrari and Porsche on the Nürburgring racing track. It is currently the fastest production car in the world.
  • Nissan has become the car brand most associated with a Galaxy far, far away. In 2016, they partnered with Disney and Lucasfilm, just in time to market their Nissan Rogue SUV when the Star Wars spin-off Rogue One hit cinemas. The collaboration worked, with Nissan selling 40,005 Rogues in 2016 alone.
  • Most people think of the Skyline when they think of the Nissan, but the car featured in the Fast and the Furious franchise wasn't actually designed or built by Nissan. Instead, it was built by a car company called Prince, which Nissan merged with in 1966. The name Prince was phased out, and the Nissan Skyline was born.
