About Tail Gate Hatch Glasss
The Mitsubishi Bootlid Tailgate is the lifting cover for the boot space on a saloon vehicle or the lifting door on a hatchback or estate vehicle. In the latter it will include the rear window, referred to as the tailgate hatch glass, in the former it will be a solid piece of bodywork.
The Bootlid is attached by hinges to the boot space/luggage compartment at the rear of the vehicle. The Mitsubishi tailgate hatch glass is set into the hinged Mitsubishi Bootlid Tailgate, forming a window, which lifts, opening the rear end of the passenger compartment. Glass used in modern car doors is generally safety glass which decreases the chance of injury if it smashes.
The tailgate hatch glass can, in some models, house a heated screen with a wiper/wash system and possibly lighting.
All of the windows in the car serve a safety function, offering protection to the people travelling in the car. All windows should be clean and free from cracks and scratches so that safety is not compromised. When replacing windows, such as the tailgate hatch glass, it's important to make sure the part is compatible with the make and model of your car. The usual reason for replacement of the Mitsubishi tailgate hatch glass is collision damage.
Mitsubishi trivia
- Mitsubishi and actor Jackie Chan have a long history together. Mitsubishi cars have featured in every Jackie Chan film ever made, and there's even an official Jackie Chan race.
- The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X is hard to park. That's because it doesn't have a reverse gear! Rather than simply sliding it into reverse, drivers have to change the rotation of the first and third gears. It saves weight, but it's not easy to get used to.
- Mitsubishi didn't just break a record in 2011; they broke five in one day! In a durability test in Canada, they smashed records for the greatest distance driven in reverse on snow, the shortest braking distance on ice, the fastest vehicle slalom on ice, the fastest driven square lap, and the most vehicle figure eights on ice in two minutes.
- Mitsubishi are responsible for building the Silent Shaft engine. The technology used in the 4-cylinder engines was revolutionary and was quickly licensed for use on Saab and Porsche cars.
- Mitsubishi didn't just win the 1974 East Africa Safari Rally. They came second and third too! They've also won the Dakar Rally an impressive 12 times, with seven of those wins being consecutive.
