About Wiring Looms

The Kia Wiring Loom is a set of wires strapped together designed to begin and terminate at specific points in the vehicle. The loom is rather like the London Underground Map with different coloured wires running from one point in the vehicle to another. During manufacture these looms are premade with the wires strapped together and shaped to run a certain route through the car's structure. The looms can be separate pieces that connect at junction points.

These looms run through channeling in the car body, under carpets behind roof lining and behind the car dashboard. These connect the electrical power required for the functioning of the engine, and all equipment requiring electrical power.

Faults can occur in the Kia Wiring Loom due to short circuiting, over heating, fire damage or crash damage.

Kia trivia

  • It wasn't until 1974 that Kia produced their first car. Before that, they focused on bicycles and motorbikes. By 1998, they had produced their one-millionth car! Kia were the company that produced South Korea's first-ever bicycle, first-ever motorbike, and first-ever domestic truck.
  • Kia has been responsible for several famous adverts, but the most well-known one was for the 2010 Superbowl. The Kia Soul advert featured animated hamsters trying to run on hamster wheels. The ad was so successful that it won the Automotive Ad of the Year.
  • The concept car shown off by Kia in 2019 was an EV with some unusual features. The dashboard, in particular, was a shock to many as it featured 21 screens, each the size of the average smartphone.
  • The vast majority of Kia cars are named after geographical terms. The Cerato is Greek for 'peak', and Sorento is an Italian city.
  • The largest car assembly plant in the world is owned by Kia. It is based in Ulsan, South Korea.
