Overview

The Jaguar XK Series is a grand tourer sports car which is produced by the British automobile manufacturing company Jaguar Cars. This vehicle is available in Coupe and Convertible variants and has been in production since 1996, and is currently in its second generation of production. The XK Series includes the XK8, XK and XKR. The current version was released in 2006 and is a very stylish looking sports car which has great performance, amazing handling and is a very well refined vehicle. It is a very well equipped car which has a real quality feel. It may not be the most practical vehicle, but this is not what you are after when looking at a car of this calibre. It does not have much space in the rear passenger area or in the boot, but overall is a very reliable car and is really great fun to drive. Does this sound anything like your experience of the XK Series?

History

The first generation (1996-2006) was first introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1996 and went into production that same year. This car replaced the previous Jaguar XJS and used the new eight cylinder Jaguar AJ-V8 engine. The XKR is the supercharged version which was released in 1998. The second generation (2006-present) was first seen at the Frankfurt motor show in 2005, and was produced the following year. A new even sportier version than the XKR was released in 2012 called the XKR-S.

Fuel Economy

The Jaguar XK Series is available with 4.2L or 5.0L V8 petrol engines which are very powerful sports engines. These engines offer around 25mpg which is not to bad at all for a vehicle of this type. Which engine do you have and how does it perform in terms of fuel economy?

Transmission

The Jaguar XK Series is only available with a 6-speed automatic gearbox and it is pretty disappointing that this fantastic sports car is not available with a manual gearbox. How do you rate the performance of the gearbox on your XR Series? We want to help you find the gearbox parts you need for your XK Series and you can check out Jaguar gearbox section to search for those needed gearbox parts.
