The Renault Eolab concept car is capable of an amazing 282mpg and extremely low CO2 emissions of 22g/km. This concept vehicle is equipped with a hybrid combination of a 73bhp, 3 cylinder petrol engine with electric motor and 6.7kwh lithium-ion battery pack. This hybrid is linked to a three-speed clutchless gearbox and is capable of 0-60mph in 9 seconds, which is really good for a vehicle of this type. This combination could be closer than we think to making an appearance in a production car, but it is unlikely it will be in the form of an Eolab production car. This is obviously only a prototype but this car drives extremely well for this type of hybrid. The design of the Eolab is very sleek looking and would not look out of place in the modern supermini market. As yet even stricter Euro standards are expected by the year 2020, this contributed to the French automaker taking a good look at the way current supermini cars are designed. The Eolab concept weighs less than the current Clio and is more efficient in terms of aerodynamics. It features '100 key new technologies' and Renault expect that almost 90% of these will make an appearance over the next eight years, beginning with the 2018 Renault Clio. We look forward to this.
