About Landing Slam Bodys
A Volvo landing slam body is an extremely important part of a motor vehicle’s construction that assists in minimising the damage that the vehicle might sustain in a front end collision. The Volvo landing slam body panel can be found beneath the vehicle’s bonnet. It is made up of a rigid metal cross section that extends across the front of the car. Its primary role is to protect the parts that are located in the engine compartment and at the front of the vehicle. It also has a secondary role in that the vehicle’s headlights and its front grille are also attached to it.
As with all metal car body parts the Volvo landing slam body is liable to damage and wear and tear through rusting. Although this type of damage can be minimised by keeping the part as clean as possible it will sometimes become necessary to replace it, especially if it is damaged in a collision. Although a replacement Volvo landing slam body may be relatively easily accessed from a motor parts supplier, because of the potential difficulty in fitting it and the importance that it plays in protecting various vital components of the vehicle, it may be prudent to have it professionally fitted by a qualified motor mechanic.
Volvo trivia
- Volvo is Swedish and was founded in 1924 by two brothers who designed and built the ÖV 4 because they realised that other cars couldn't cope with Sweden's harsh weather. The car was given the name 'Jakob' and had both a 1.9-litre four-cylinder engine and a three-speed manual gearbox.
- Volvo is a Latin word that means 'I spin,' although some later translations change the meaning slightly to 'I roll.'
- A Volvo is always good for mileage, but the holder of the world record for best mileage is the 1966 Volvo 1800S, which clocked three million miles in 2013. Owner Irvin Gordon had bought the car in 1966.
- There are more than 2000 Volvo dealerships around the world, with the highest number in the US and the UK.
- Volvo is one of the oldest companies in the world to be trading on the Stock Exchange. They have been trading consistently since 1935. The majority of car manufacturers didn't even exist when the Stock Exchange opened.
