About Anti Roll Bars
The Peugeot anti roll bar is a rigid steel bar which functions structurally to prevent the chassis of the car from leaning and rolling too much when taking a turn or rounding a corner.
The Peugeot anti roll bar is positioned below the car body and attaches to the right and left hand wheel suspension with anti roll bar or drop links. Most cars have a front anti-roll bar which links the two front wheels and some cars have an anti roll bar which sits at the back of the car and connects the two rear wheels.
The Peugeot anti roll bar keeps the wheels in alignment when the car turns a corner, reducing the body roll of the whole suspension which improves the overall handling of the vehicle.
The anti roll bar itself doesn't wear but it can break or suffer damage in an accident. Over time the drop links, which link the anti roll bar with the rest of the car's suspension, will wear down, however, which can affect the handling and suspension. If the anti roll bar has been damaged in a collision, or you are fitting an anti roll bar into your car for the first time, it's important to install a part that's compatible with the make and model of your vehicle. Purchasing a Peugeot anti roll bar will ensure you get the ideal part.
Peugeot trivia
- The first diesel engine prototype from Peugeot was built in the 1930s, but they didn't start releasing models commercially until 1959 (the 403).
- It's a dubious claim to fame, but the first recorded stolen car was a Peugeot! The car, belonging to Baron de Zuylen, was nicked by his mechanic in 1896, but the thief was caught, and the car returned to its rightful owner.
- In 1913, one of Peugeot's motorsports team, Jules Goux, not only won the Indianapolis 500 but also broke the World Speed Record. He was the first European to win the Indy 500, and the 7.6-litre car was dubbed the fastest vehicle of the time.
- It was also in 1913 (some might say because of the Indy 500 win) that Peugeot were responsible for the production of half of all of the cars in France. That quickly made them one of the world's biggest names in the automotive industry.
- Peugeots, especially the 504, are incredibly popular in Africa and have been affectionately called Africa's workhorse. The 504 is a model that seems particularly well-suited to the rough terrains of Kenya and Ghana.
