About Cowl Top Panels
Certain car parts exist to protect the vehicle against damage from external sources. An important component to protect the engine and other mechanical parts under the bonnet is the Kia cowl top panel. Items of debris such as leaves, dirt and twigs can cause considerable damage to these expensive parts and the cowl top panel provides an invaluable shield.
The Kia cowl top panel is situated at the base of the windscreen, close to where the windscreen wipers are attached to the car. It is generally made from plastic and has grilles to permit ventilation but keep unwanted debris out.
If a Kia cowl top panel is damaged it loses its effectiveness as a shield and will need to be replaced. Fortunately, most motor accessory dealers stock replacement cowl top panels for all popular models of motor vehicle.
A replacement Kia cowl top panel is an inexpensive accessory which is also easy to fit. In light of the significant damage that can be done to the important equipment that is housed beneath the bonnet of a car through having a defective Kia cowl top panel, it is sensible to keep a check on its condition and, in the event of any problem, to immediately seek a replacement part.
Kia trivia
- A deal with 20th Century Fox saw Kia build special editions of the Kia Sportage and Sorento. The tie-in was with the X-Men: Apocalypse movie, and while the Sportage resembles the shape-shifting character of Mystique, the Sorento looked incredible with it's Wolverine inspired claws.
- The first major commercial hit for Kia was The Pride. Not many people know that the design of the car was based on the Ford Festiva, with a few slight changes that made it easier for South Korea's drivers to get used to.
- It wasn't until 1974 that Kia produced their first car. Before that, they focused on bicycles and motorbikes. By 1998, they had produced their one-millionth car! Kia were the company that produced South Korea's first-ever bicycle, first-ever motorbike, and first-ever domestic truck.
- The vast majority of Kia cars are named after geographical terms. The Cerato is Greek for 'peak', and Sorento is an Italian city.
- The 2020 Kia Telluride SUV is the triple crown winner of the prestigious automotive awards, which includes the NACTOY Utility Vehicle of the Year, the MotorTrend SUV of the Year, and the Car & Driver 10Best. This is the first time that an SUV walked away with all three of the awards.
