About Doseur Valvess
A BMW doseur valve (sometimes known as a doser valve), plays a key part in a vehicle’s hydraulic braking system. Its job is to send brake fluid, which has been converted in to hydraulic pressure to the vehicle’s brakes.
The BMW doseur valve is located by a LMH reservoir which holds hydraulic fluid. The doseur valve goes in to operation when the brake pedal is pressed by sending the pressurised hydraulic fluid from the reservoir to the brake lines. The level of pressure is crucial in ensuring that the brakes work. Too little pressure and the brakes will fail.
It’s also key that there is no air in the system. This will result in a delay between the pressing of the brakes and the brakes working, which could be fatal. Any delay in the activation of brakes should be immediately checked by a reputable garage.
Other signs of a BMW doseur valve failure could include the vehicle leaking hydraulic fluid. This green coloured liquid may be seen on the ground under the vehicle. You may also see a lit warning light on your dashboard to tell you that there is an issue with your vehicle’s braking system.
BMW trivia
- Everyone knows what the BMW logo looks like, but do you know what it represents? Most people think it's inspired by propellers (because of BMW's aviation history), but it's really just the same colour scheme as the Bavarian flag and was designed to showcase Bavaria.
- Electric cars might be all the rage now, but BMW built their first one in 1972 and called it the BMW 1602e. It didn't quite make it to market though, thanks to the fact that it could only hold a twenty-minute charge.
- Did you know that BMW built a Lamborghini? The two popular companies decided to make a race car together, but Lamborghini pulled out during the manufacturing process. BMW carried on, and the final result was the original BMW M1 supercar.
- Think you know what BMW is an acronym of? If you answered Broke My Wallet, you’re definitely wrong. It really stands for Bayerische Motoren Werke (which is Bavarian Motor Works in English).
- The famous German pilot, the Red Baron, called BMW engines the 'greatest in the world' and ‘the best engine in the war’.
