Mitsubishi Colt Overview
The Mitsubishi Colt is a supermini car produced by the Japanese car manufacturing company Mitsubishi. The Colt name has been used for a number of different cars over the years. It was first used in 1962 where it was used on small cars sold in Japan. In 1978 a new version was used across the world as a version of the Mitsubishi Mirage. The latest version of this car has been on the market since 2002. This car is reasonably priced and has a spacious interior, but it seriously lacks in safety features and there are better choices available for this class and price range.
Mitsubishi Colt History
Before the introduction of the current model in 2002, there has been a variation of different cars under this name. First of all from 1962-71 the Colt was sold as a small family car in Japan only. There was a variety of these different cars sold across this market up until 1971.
In 1978 the name was reintroduced as a front wheel drive small family hatchback, with the sedan version became available four years later under the Lancer name. The Colt was a variation of the Japanese Mirage, sold as a Colt in Europe and elsewhere. This was sold over 5 different generations up until 2002.
The first generation (2002-12) of the new Colt supermini was based on the design platform of the Smart Forfour and wasn’t released in Europe until 2004. A coupe cabriolet version was introduced in 2006. Also that year a sportier version of the Colt was released, called the Ralliart Version-R. A version called Colt plus is a bigger version with more boot space and other extra features.

On the latest models of the Colt there are 1.1, 1.3 and 1.5L petrol
engines with a 1.5L diesel option. The most economical of the range is the 1.5 diesel, while the petrol versions offer good economy for petrol cars. Remember to take into consideration: age, engine size and fuel type when considering fuel economy on a car.
