Hyundai Accent Overview
The Hyundai Accent is in the small family car class, or also known as a subcompact. It is produced by the South Korean car manufacturing company Hyundai. This car is marketed under different names across the world e.g. Hyundai Verna in South Korea and Dodge Attitude in Mexico. The Hyundai Accent is very cheap to buy but loses its value very quickly as a second hand car. There are very practical cars, well equipped but they have bad handling and are known for their suspension failure.
Hyundai Accent History
The first generation Mk1 (1995-99) was produced as a replacement to the Hyundai Excel, which it was still marketed under in some countries. In the UK there were three variations available: hatchback, sedan and coupe. This generation was only available in automatic gearbox and was lacking in some safety features.
The second generation Mk2 (2000-05) changed the look a bit, making it slightly larger and not so rounded body, giving a classier look. There was a new engine range introduced, including the first diesel engine for this car. In 2003 the Mk 2 had a slight makeover.
The third generation Mk3 (2006-11) had some changes to the exterior, more spacious inside the vehicle and some engines added to the range. This car was noted by critics for its price devaluing for second had resale’s. In Europe this model was replaced in 2007 with the new Hyundai i30 but was continued in other markets.
The fourth generation Mk4 (2010 - present) is the current model in production and has went for an all new modern look. It looks pretty cool and is competitive in the small family car market.

Fuel Economy
The petrol engines are available in 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6 across the range and the diesel engines: 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6. This car is not the greatest economically for its class, with some of the earlier models being noted as only getting 33mpg (miles per gallon). As the advancements in
engine technology have improved so has the economy of these cars. Also with the introduction of the diesel engine to the range has brought about a much more economical car.
Transmission
The first three generations offered 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic gearboxes across the range. The fourth generation has 5 and 6 speed manuals with 4 and 5 speed automatics. There is a section of our website devoted to
