Suzuki Alto Overview

The Suzuki Alto is classed as a City Car and is designed by the Japanese automobile manufacturing company Suzuki. This car has been around a long time and has undergone some severe changes in its lifetime, to keep up with current design trends and evolve with the technology. The Alto was first produced in Japan in 1979 and its major selling point is its cheap price and low fuel consumption. Out of all the different cars available in the city car class, this is probably one of the poorest. It is not the greatest drive, there’s not much room inside, and it’s not the best looking and doesn’t handle that well. Let’s remember the price and fuel economy, which this type of car is famous for. Does this sound anything like your experience of this car?

Suzuki Alto History

The first generation (1979-84) was available in Japan and had smaller engine sizes than the export versions. This car was first introduced into the UK in 1981. The second generation (1984-94) was a bit more powerful and slightly larger than the Japanese version and it had a makeover in 1988, remaining in production until 1993. The third generation (1994-2002) was a very square looking car and the last to be associated with the Fronte model. The fourth generation (2002-09) version was given a much newer look and got rid of the ‘square’ look. There were more variations of this car available in this generation. The fifth generation (2009-present) is the current version in production and has gone with the new modern style of design. This car is also produced for Nissan, called the Nissan Prixo.
