Toyota Camry Overview
The Toyota Camry has progressed from a small family car to a mid-sized family car over the years. It has been in production since 1982 and had 9 variants. This car is produced by the Japanese automobile manufacturing company Toyota Motors. The Camry has been very popular in America and Australia, being the best selling passenger car of 2012 in the USA. It has not been so popular in Japan or Europe, where sales ended in 2004. The last versions to be sold in the UK were seen as being very well equipped, spacious and comfortable rides. They are also very reliable cars and well priced. You will certainly get your moneys worth but the one thing they do lack is appeal. Does this sound anything like your experience of the Toyota Camry?
Toyota Camry History
The Camry was originally called the Toyota Celica Camry. It was a version of the Celica which was introduced in 1980 but the Camry was soon to become its own model, independent from the Celica.
The Camry name was used on its own car from 1982 and was known across two different types, the narrow body and the wide body. The narrow body was from 1982-98 across 4 generations: The first generation V10 (1982-86), the second generation V20 (1986-90), the third generation V30 (1990-94) and the fourth generation V40 (1994-98).
The wide body version has been in production since 1991 and was the one sold in markets such as America and Australia. The V30 and V40 were for the Japanese market mainly. The XV10 (1991-96), the XV20 (1996-2001), XV30 (2001-06), XV40 (2006-11) and the XV50 (2011 – present) which is the current version on the market.

The Toyota Camry has been available in many different
engines across its lifetime. In its last few years in the UK the Camry was available in 2.2, 2.4 and 3.0L petrol versions. The 2.2 and 2.4L engines were the more economical, offering up to 32mpg which is not too bad for engines of this size. Which engine did you have and how did it perform economically?
