Porsche 911 Overview
The Porsche 911 is classed as a Grand Tourer sports car and is produced by the German sports car manufacturing company Porsche AG. Porsche is based in Stuttgart, Germany and have been manufacturing the 911 since 1963. This is one of the oldest sports coupes still in production and uses the rear mounted engine and has a very distinctive design. These cars look amazing and have a performance to match. They handle really well and are very reliable. Great safety features and so much fun to drive. They cost a lot to run and don’t have much space in the rear, but is one of the best sports car around. Porsche 911 History
The first generation 911 (1963-89) Porsche 911 classic didn’t change too much over this 26 year period.
The second generation (1989-93) was internally known as the 964 and gave the 911 a real change. It improved in many areas including aerodynamics and many mechanical areas.
The third generation (1993-98) was internally known as the 993 and was the final 911 to use the air cooled engine. This again had a more aerodynamic design and some mechanical improvements.
The fourth generation (1999-2005) was internally known as the 996, and was the first water cooled engine for the 911. This was the first version to use a different body shell from the original 911 design.
The fifth generation (2005-11) was internally known as the 997 and had a similar design to its predecessor but going back to the ‘bug eye’ headlight design of the original 911.
The sixth generation (2011-present) is internally known as the 991 and is the current version in production. This is built on a new platform, making it slightly larger and wider. This is the third design platform since the 911 was introduced.

The modern versions of the Porsche 911 are available in 3.3, 3.4, 3.6 and 3.8L petrol
