Nissan 280ZX Overview

The Nissan 280ZX is classed as a grand tourer sports car which was produced by the Japanese automobile manufacturing company Nissan. The 280ZX was in production from 1978 to 1983 and was also marketed as the Nissan Fairlady Z and Datsun 280ZX in different markets. This car was the second generation of the Nissan Z-car range and replaced the 280Z. The 280ZX won the Motor Trends Import Car of the Year in 1979. The 280ZX was powerful and great fun to drive. It looked pretty stylish for its time and was well designed and well built motor cars. This sports coupe was bigger than the car it replaced and it was reasonably comfortable and spacious for a car of this class. Does this sound anything like your experience of the 280ZX?

Nissan 280ZX History

The Nissan 280ZX was first introduced in 1978 to replace the 280Z. This car was much larger, bulkier and heavier than its predecessor, with some claiming that it meant it was not as much fun to drive. Despite this, it was also seen as an improvement which led to its success, and winning the Motor Trends Import Car of the year in 1979. There was a turbo charger version released in 1981 and a facelifted version in 1982, with the main changes taking place on the exterior design and was known as the 'Series II' 280ZX. Production ceased in 1983 and the 280ZX was replaced by the Nissan 300ZX.
