Jaguar XJ6 Overview

The Jaguar XJ6 is classed as a luxury saloon car and is produced by the British car manufacturing company Jaguar. This vehicle has been in production since 1968 and is part of the XJ series. It has changed appearance of the years to keep up with contemporary design, whilst maintaining the Jaguar styling. These cars are well refined, well designed and very reliable cars. They are very spacious inside but the large engines can be greedy on fuel. Does this sound anything like your experience of the Jaguar XJ6?

Jaguar XJ6 History

The 1st Series (1968-73) appeared in 1968 and the XJ6 replaced most Jaguar saloons of the time. These cars had the famous Jaguar XK engines installed in both 2.8 and 4.2L petrol. The Series 2 (1973-79) was known for its poor build quality which was blamed on Jaguar now being part of British Leyland and the work force problems in the UK at the time. The Series 3 (1979-92) had some changes to the design of the vehicle and was the last to use the series name. The XJ40 (1986-94) was extremely well built as Jaguar started to place a lot of emphasis on build quality and was built on a new platform. The X300 (1994-97) had a redesigned front end and was the last XJ6 to be produced until 2003. The X350 (2003-09) was completely re-engineered and used the XJ6 name again. This was the last version to use the XJ6 name.
