Skoda Fabia Overview

The Skoda Fabia is classed as a supermini car and is produced by the Czech automobile company Skoda, which is part of the larger Volkswagen Group. This car was first produced in 1999 as a replacement to the Skoda Felicia, which ended production in 2001. This car is available in hatchback, estate and salon. It was designed on the Volkswagen Polo Mark 4 platform. These cars are very well built, very affordable, have a spacious interior and are a good drive. They are pretty basic in design, but what do you expect for the money.

Skoda Fabia History

The first generation Mark 1 (1999-2007) replaced the now out of production Skoda Felicia in 1999. This car was built on the same PQ24 platform as the VW Polo and Seat Ibiza, the first Skoda to be built on a Volkswagen design platform. All parts to this vehicle were VW designed, making this a well built car. In 2005 there was a makeover to this car, which mainly affected the lights and front grille. There was a new sports version introduced and there was a good range of engine choices available. The second generation Mark 2 (2007 - present) is the current version in production. This version is slightly larger than its predecessor and has a lot of the same exterior parts as the Skoda Roomster, as they were designed together. The estate version of the Fabia was introduced on the Mark 2. The safety features for this version were average, 3 stars out of 5.
