Overview

The Jaguar S-Type is a mid-sized executive car which was produced by the British automobile manufacturing company Jaguar Cars. The S-Type name was re-introduced in 1999 as it had previously been used on an older Jaguar car from the 60's. The latest version of the S-Type has the iconic Jaguar styling and is a very luxurious vehicle which is great to drive. This car is very well equipped, has excellent handling and is very comfortable inside. It is very spacious in the front but there is a lack of room in the rear, which means it is not as practical as you would expect. It is very reliable, has great safety features and performance, but it has high running costs and is now starting to look a little dated. Does this sound anything like your experience of the S-Type?

History

The Jaguar S-Type was in production from 1999-2008 and was built on the Ford DEW98 platform. The Jaguar XF replaced the S-Type. The S-Type name was previously used in a Jaguar car that was released in 1963 and ceased production in 1968. The first S-Types in the latest range were produced from 1999-2002 and are distinguished by there U-shaped centre console. From 2003 onwards the S-Type models had the Jaguar logo within the front grille and a looped style centre console. There was a minor facelift to the vehicle in 2005 which mainly affected the front and rear ends, including the front grille design. Production ceased in 2008.
