The Rover 200 Coupe/Cabriolet is a small family car which was produced by the British automobile manufacturing company Rover. The 200 Coupe and Cabriolet versions were only available on the second generation version of the 200. These versions were in production from 1989-95 along with the hatchback and estate variants. This car offers good fuel economy and is also quite a good looking car, both the Coupe and Cabriolet versions. It is a comfortable car which is fairly spacious in the front, but the rear could do with more leg room. It is good fun to drive but is not the best ride, especially on poorly surfaced roads. Key fob failure
Problem: This vehicle, as well as several other Rovers of this period suffer with the key fob not operating correctly. If you are suffering with the key fob not turning off the immobiliser, this is due to an issue with the key fob losing the code. If the code is lost, the fob cannot communicate with the immobiliser or ECU.
Solution: You need to have the key fob reprogrammed to fix the problem. Before having this done, it is recommended that you check to see if the key fob battery is dead, as if this is the cause, it will save you a lot of time, hassle and money.
Rust problems
Problem: These cars are prone to rust bubbles around the wheel arches and sills. These areas are very susceptible to being water traps, causing corrosion, and leading to eventual rust bubbles.
Solution: Depending on how bad the rust is, will determine what you need to do. If it is not too bad, you can rub down the affected area, treat it and touch up with paint. If it is pretty bad you will need to cut out the affected area and weld on a patch and repaint.
Rattling noise
Problem: If you are hearing a rattling noise coming from underneath the car when you start the engine from cold, it is caused by an issue with the catalytic converter. It will most likely get noisier when you rev the engine.
Solution: Replacing the catalytic converter will resolve the issue. We can help you find a replacement catalytic converter at a very low price.
