Land Rover Freelander Overview
The Land Rover Freelander is a compact SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) which is produced by the British automobile manufacturing company Land Rover. The Freelander was introduced in 1997 and is currently in its second generation of production. The current version of the Freelander has a real premium feel and has excellent off-road capabilities. It is a stylish looking vehicle which is very well equipped and has excellent handling. The safety features on this vehicle are extremely good and it is also a very comfortable and practical vehicle. It has really good performance and is also very reliable. There is not much wrong with the Freelander at all and is well worth considering if you are after a compact SUV. Land Rover Freelander History
The first generation (1997-2006) was released in 1997 as the Rover Group had done some research into the compact SUV market in the late 80's. When BMW took over in 1994, they funded this project and produced the first generation Freelander in 1997. This vehicle became the best selling 4x4 in Europe right up until 2002.
The second generation (2006-present) was introduced in 2006 and was marketed as the LR2 in North America but kept the Freelander name for the European market. This vehicle is based on the Ford EUCD platform. The interior design has been greatly improved over the previous version. This is the current version on the market.

The Land Rover Freelander has been available in the following
