The new 2014 Jeep Cherokee has recently received an award of 'SUV of the year' at the Denver International Auto Show. The award was given by the Rocky Mountain Automotive Press (RMAP) and the new Cherokee was highly regarded for its incredible off-road performance and for also having an exceptional on-road performance too. Andre Smirnov is the president of the Rocky Mountain Automotive Press and this is what he had to say: ”The Rocky Mountain region challenges any vehicle to the maximum with high altitude and constantly changing weather conditions. The 2014 Jeep Cherokee is equipped to handle this tough environment, while also offering comfort, utility, and efficiency. RMAP is pleased to recognize the Jeep Cherokee as the 2014 Rocky Mountain 'SUV of the Year.” The Cherokee beat of competition from all SUVs which are on sale in the Rocky Mountain region and is the eighth year of these awards. The new Cherokee has several features making it stand out from the competition including: 70 safety and security features, the first SUV to use a 9-speed automatic gearbox and the first vehicle to have the 3.2L Pentastar V6 engine. This is what Mike Manley, the CEO of the Jeep brand which is part of The Chrysler Group had to say: "The rugged terrain and varying weather conditions of the Rocky Mountain region make this award extra special and a natural fit for the all-new Jeep Cherokee."
