The Peugeot 2008 has only been in production since 2013 and is a stylish looking mini SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) which is produced by the French automobile manufacturing company Peugeot. Peugeot now join the competitive crossover SUV market and this vehicle will compete with the likes of the Renault Captur and the Nissan Juke. The 2008 is built on the same platform as the Peugeot 208 supermini car. This is the PSA PS1 platform and it is only available in front wheel drive. This is a slight disadvantage when compared to some leading rivals, but Peugeot have compensated for this with a switchable traction control system and some all season tyres to allow for improved off road performance. The 2008 is available in the following engines: 1.4 or 1.6L diesel and 1.2 or 1.6L petrol engines. The 1.6L diesel is the most economical engine, offering 74.3mpg and low CO2 emissions of 98g/km. This means no road tax due to being below 100g/km. The 1.2L is the best petrol option in terms of fuel economy, offering around 57.6mpg. Depending on which engine you go for, there are three different transmissions available: 5 or 6 speed manual and a 4-speed automatic gearbox. Overall this is an excellent vehicle which has quality styling, reliable, great to drive, practical and has very low running costs. Can it really compete with the Renault Captur and Nissan Juke? We think so. The Peugeot 2008 costs between £12,995 and £19,745. What do you think of the Peugeot 2008? Share your thoughts in our comments box below.
