About Coursey Lamp Assemblys

The Volvo courtesy lamp assembly is the complete unit of all of the components that make up a courtesy lamp. Parts usually include the bulb, the lamp base, a lens to cover the bulb and a switch to turn the light on. Wires are then attached to the Volvo courtesy lamp assembly in order to fit it to the vehicle’s power supply.

Courtesy lights are found in the interior of the vehicle, sometimes in the front or rear of the roof in the passengers seating area or in the door area in the rear. There are however, some vehicles, such as the Volvo that have Volvo courtesy lamp assemblies in the driverside floor of the vehicle. These are more prone to wear due to their location and are more likely to need replacement than Volvo courtesy lamp assemblies situated in other parts of the vehicle.

Failure of the Volvo courtesy lamp assemblies can be caused by simple means such as a blown bulb but should be investigated further in case the issue is caused by damage to the wiring of the lighting system. Another part of the assembly that may fail is the light switch.

Volvo trivia

  • Volvo is one of the oldest companies in the world to be trading on the Stock Exchange. They have been trading consistently since 1935. The majority of car manufacturers didn't even exist when the Stock Exchange opened.
  • Volvo is a Latin word that means 'I spin,' although some later translations change the meaning slightly to 'I roll.'
  • Volvo invented the three-point seatbelt in 1959, and the company refused to patent it, believing that car safety was too important to not share.
  • Although many of their inventions were released to the public, Volvo has been responsible for so many cutting-edge inventions in car manufacturing that they have had to build an entire company division to deal solely with patent infringement.
  • Volvo invented the lambda sond, which is a probe that senses oxygen. It is responsible for cutting down exhaust emissions by 90%, and has been called "the most significant breakthrough ever made in the control of vehicle exhaust emissions." Volvo waived the patent rights on this, and now almost every car on the planet has one installed.
