About Headlight Switchs

The Kia headlight switch operates the headlights in a vehicle. It’s located on the dashboard and when operated manually by the driver has the option of operating different lights depending on the driving conditions, for example; the fog light option could be used when driving in fog. Often, the Kia headlight switch also has an option to decide the intensity of the light beam used when driving.

Some vehicles have automatic headlight operation which means that the on board computer decides if lights should be activated depending on the lighting conditions whilst driving. Some vehicles with this option also have a switch to enable the driver to turn the lights out if not needed.

If headlights are failing to light, the first thing to check is the headlight fuses. It may be however that the issue is with a bulb in which case this should be replaced. Kia headlight switch failures are not uncommon due to the repeated use of this part when driving. Some vehicles will indicate their failure by using a warning light on the dashboard or a warning noise. If a switch fails it should be replaced so lights can be used as normal.

Kia trivia

  • The first major commercial hit for Kia was The Pride. Not many people know that the design of the car was based on the Ford Festiva, with a few slight changes that made it easier for South Korea's drivers to get used to.
  • Kia doesn't quite have a production facility on every continent (they don't have one in Australia), but they are present in 190 countries and have over 5000 dealerships.
  • The name' Kia' isn't meaningless. It's actually a combination of two South Korean characters, and when put together the translation is either 'Coming from Asia' or 'Rising from the East', depending on who is doing the translation.
  • Kia cars are famous for being reliable. They have the lowest recall rate after Porsche and Mercedes Benz, and the fact that they are considerably cheaper than both has led to Kia cars being called the most reliable mass-market vehicle in the world.
  • Talk about fast, the Hwasung manufacturing plant owned by Kia can knock out roughly 114 cars every hour. That works out as two cars every 60 seconds!
