About Hood & Frames

One of the more popular types of convertible designs on older vehicles is the soft top Ivecohood and frame. In this type of vehicle, the hood, which is usually made of some type of fabric, is attached to the hood frame. As with most vehicle parts, the mechanical parts of the frame and the fabric of the hood tend to wear and tear. The hood, because it is made of fabric is also relatively easy to damage.

In the event that either the hood frame or the hood itself is damaged and requires replacement there are two possibilities. One or other of the individual components can be replaced, although, whilst this is the less expensive option, it will mean that one part of the convertible roof assembly will be much older than the other. A better alternative might be to invest in a complete Ivecohood and frame replacement kit. This has the advantage of creating an entirely new roof assembly, both parts of which are likely to survive for some time into the future.

IvecoHood and frame kits are relatively inexpensive and are easily accessed through one of the many motor component retailers and a Iveconew hood and frame can transform the appearance of an aging convertible.

Iveco trivia

  • It wasn't until 1985 that Iveco made their first light diesel engine that came with direct injection. It was only four years later in '89 that they rolled out their first diesel vehicles with exhaust gas recirculation.
  • In 1986, Iveco rolled out its first vehicle with electric propulsion. This was a trial, but it was quickly adopted across their full range of buses, as well as many of their truck models.
  • The IAA Motor Show is a chance for car manufacturers to show off their newest models and it's one of the big annual events for car lovers. In 2018, Iveco had a stand that didn't have a single diesel engine included. Instead, their vehicles were all powered by either electricity, CNG, or LNG.
  • In 1986, Iveco signed a deal with Ford to create Iveco Ford Truck Ltd, intended to make it easier to break into the British car market.
  • Iveco is actually five different European companies that formed in 1975. The brands from Italy, Germany, and France decided that they'd make more of an impact by pooling their resources, and the gamble certainly paid off.
