About Fog Lamp Blanking Plates

The Hyundai fog lamp blanking plate is situated on the front of the vehicle and is attached to the chassis under the bumper. The purpose of a Hyundai fog lamp blanking plate is to neatly cover the empty space on a vehicle where a fog light would have been installed. Hyundai fog lamp blanking plates are made of a plastic material and come in a variety of colours and finishes to compliment a range of vehicles, though the most commonly used colours are grey or black which are installed by vehicle manufacturers as standard. Some people find that these do not suit the cosmetic appearance of their vehicle and so may install one in a similar colour to their vehicle. Alternatively, it’s also possible to install fog lights in the place of blanking plates, but this is often at large cost to the vehicle owner.

Some Hyundai fog lamp blanking plates can be latticed, which can cover up an existing fog light rather than removing it. This has the added benefit of being able to use the lamp, whilst also hiding its appearance. However, this grille makes it more difficult to clean the fog light underneath.

Hyundai trivia

  • The first car produced by Hyundai was the Pony, which was designed with help from international car designers, including Giorgio Giugiaro.
  • When Hyundai entered a deal with Marvel, it meant that three different Hyundai cars were used in Ant-Man and the Wasp. As part of the promotion, Hyundai also designed and built the Kona Iron Man Edition SUV, which is pretty cool!
  • The Hyundai testing centre is world-class. Based in the Mojave Desert, the area (known as the Proving Ground) is an abandoned airbase. With 4,300 acres of land, cars can be tested so harshly that there are still remains of vehicles scattered around the zone.
  • The first Hyundai with front-wheel-drive was the Excel. Despite the weak sales, it remains an important car because it was designed by the man behind the world-famous time-traveling car, the DeLorean.
  • The ‘H’ logo might mean more than you think. It doesn’t just stand for Hyundai! Instead, it is meant to represent a car salesman sealing a car deal with a customer by shaking hands. If you look closely, the ‘H’ is slightly slanted to show that the customer comes first.
