About CV Gaiter Outers
A Hyundai outer CV gaiter is a strong rubber protective cover which fits snugly over the CV joint in order to protect it from debris and damage when the vehicle is in motion. It contains lubricant which enables the parts of the CV joint to move smoothly without wear.
Failure in a Hyundai outer CV gaiter will most likely be caused by damage to the rubber material which can mean that the essential lubricant is lost and contaminants can enter the confines of the gaiter which causes risk of damage to the inner CV joint. The CV joint is essential in driving the vehicle forward as it transfers torque from the transmission to the wheels at a constant speed, and if damaged can cause the vehicle to cease operation.
The most common way to diagnose a damaged Hyundai outer CV gaiter is by inspection by a mechanic who will be able to see any signs of cracking, wear or lubricant leaking from the gaiter. However, in the event of a damaged Hyundai outer CV gaiter causing damage to the CV joint you will hear a knocking noise coming from the vehicle, which becomes louder on acceleration.
Hyundai trivia
- Hit zombie show, The Walking Dead has been sponsored by Hyundai since it started, and in 2014 they released a special edition tie-in vehicle. They did have some conditions for their cars being used in the show, though. Bloodstains aren’t allowed to be seen on a Hyundai, and they aren’t allowed to be used to directly run over the living dead.
- All car manufacturers need a big manufacturing plant. The Ulsan plant used by Hyundai is the biggest in the world and covers an astonishing 1,225 acres. It has five completely independent plants and needs around 35,000 workers to function at optimal capacity.
- The first car produced by Hyundai was the Pony, which was designed with help from international car designers, including Giorgio Giugiaro.
- The ‘H’ logo might mean more than you think. It doesn’t just stand for Hyundai! Instead, it is meant to represent a car salesman sealing a car deal with a customer by shaking hands. If you look closely, the ‘H’ is slightly slanted to show that the customer comes first.
- The Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is the first mass-produced car with a solar panel roof.
