About Brake Padss

The brake pads are two pieces, per wheel, made of metal lined with a heat resistant material.

The Alfa Romeo brake pads are housed in the brake caliper which straddles the brake disc, one pad on either side of the disc. When the footbrake is applied the pads are forced hydraulically via pistons onto the spinning discs to which the wheels are attached consequently causing the vehicle to reduce speed.

Brake pads need to be renewed periodically depending on conditions and usage. Signs that the pads need to be renewed can include noise when applying the brakes and a deteriorating

performance of the brakes on some makes and models the pads incorporate a wire attached to the pad that sends a signal to a warning light in the control panel to warn of the need to check the pads.

Due to the high energy forces, heat, friction and stresses involved with the braking system in the area of the discs and wheels, it's of the utmost importance that all components are in good order. Replacing this part with the Alfa Romeo brake pads will ensure complete compatibility with the make and model of your vehicle.

Alfa Romeo trivia

  • The Italian police love the Alfa Romeo, and so the 159 model is driven by both the standard police force and the special forces branches of the Italian police.
  • All car companies have a slogan, but Alfa Romeo never seemed happy with theirs. They have had several, with everything from ‘The family car that wins races’ to ‘Mediocrity is a sin’. In 2020, they’re sticking with ‘Beauty is not enough. Power for your control.’
  • In 1933, the Italian government ‘acquired’ Alfa Romeo, and they kept their hold on it until 1986. That’s when Fiat bought the company and the government had no choice but to let it go.
  • One of the most famous onscreen appearances of an Alfa Romeo was in the James Bond film Octopussy when the superspy stole a graphite GTV6. The car brand shows up again in Quantum of Solace, racing against Bond’s Aston Martin.
  • Due to tax shenanigans, the very first Alfa-branded car was named the 24HP, even though it came with a 25 horsepower 4.1-litre engine. It was quick and could do a satisfying 62mph, despite having wooden spoke wheels.
