About Central Locking Switch

The Partner Peugeot central locking switch is a two-way switch that is located in the door trim and allows the user to lock or unlock the door by pushing it. This switch can sometimes have an illustration on it with a closed padlock and an open padlock to show the user which way to push the switch to operate.

In a basic setup, the Partner Peugeot central locking switch sends power to the actuators to control the locking system. However, in a more complex setup, such as those where there are multiple ways to lock and unlock your vehicle, an on-board computer called a body controller will control the power. It also controls many of the functions of a vehicle, including the amount of time the interior lights stay on when the vehicle is started. It also gives you warnings that you’ve left your lights on or if you’ve left the keys in the ignition too.

If the Partner Peugeot central locking switch fails, it’s most likely due to a wiring or electrical fault in the central locking system. This could mean that the doors would be unable to be unlocked, or alternatively will not lock causing a security issue.

Peugeot trivia

  • In 1913, one of Peugeot's motorsports team, Jules Goux, not only won the Indianapolis 500 but also broke the World Speed Record. He was the first European to win the Indy 500, and the 7.6-litre car was dubbed the fastest vehicle of the time.
  • You know the name Ettore Bugatti and the brand that bears his name, but did you know that Bugatti also designed the four-cylinder engine in 1912 for the Peugeot Bébé? You can't miss that unmistakable Bugatti look once you know that fact, and the car quickly became France's best selling car.
  • Lots of car manufacturers tried building electric vehicles at some point, but Peugeot had more success than others in the 1940s! Fuel restrictions promoted the design, and the car came with four 12-volt batteries that meant a range of 80km on a single charge and a top speed of 32km/h.
  • Peugeots have been seen on the big and small screen. Most notable, the Peugeot 403 convertible was the car of everyone's famous scruffy detective Colombo. There was also an episode of Absolutely Fabulous where Edina and Patsy drive through France in a 205.
  • Peugeot might not be a name in Formula 1 (they did try a few times, but it never quite worked out), but they have been dominant in other races. In particular, four victories in an incredible 24 hours at Le Mans, and six impressive wins in the Dakar rally, to name just a few.
